More than 8.000 people have died as a result of the earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25, 2015. Aside from the human toll, the tremor also damaged part of Kathmandu’s historic and legendary sitesMany of the villages affected by the earthquake are in mountainous regions, served by few if any roads, and where aid has been slow to reach. There have been many powerful aftershocks and there is widespread fear. Thousands of people are sleeping outdoors in makeshift shelters or without any shelter at all. There are no sanitation facilities.
